Oh my goodness! Jan’s in-laws, the Covingtons, have been in town for only one day and Jan is already unraveling. Poor Jan hasn’t been this stressed out since she sported a sassy brunette wig to Lucy Winter’s birthday party--and was promptly laughed out the door!
Between waiting on her in-laws hand and foot and keeping little Patty out of the kitchen, Jan realizes she doesn’t have enough Christmas cookies!
"You should have never made cookies three weeks before Christmas," Jan thinks to herself as she spies the empty cookie tins. "Now they're all gone!"
The solution? Easy, stress relieving peppermint bark!
This simple two-ingredient recipe allows Jan to use up the rest of the candy canes AND relieve her angst as she violently smashes them—the candy canes, not her in-laws—with a hammer!
Of course Jan would never hurt her in-laws--not on purpose. Patty loves her Gramma and Papa Covington--they give her unlimited candy, feed her ice cream for dinner, and supply enough love and hugs to last a lifetime!
The refreshing peppermint bark is a welcome change from the gooey chocolate and caramel treats--and Jan feels so much better as she places the hammer back in the toolbox.
