Sometimes she closes her eyes and tries to picture Philip on a horse, coming to her rescue. His pale skin in the sunlight. Petite legs urging the horse onward. But since he's allergic, she has no choice but to replace him with a much more desirable man:

If you've missed the fun so far, no worries...Pride and Prejudice is coming soon. Jan has seen it 500 times. Marcia has tried to sit through the three-part miniseries but "doesn't get it," stupid twit that she is.
